Re: Phil Rogers
Yes, this is a pot made by me a very long time ago......probably around 1982. I always stand by my old work but there is a limit!!! This one isn't one of my best efforts even by the standards of then!! Sorry......

Re: Phil Rogers
Here's 'my' Phil Rogers. I've seen quite a few like this one on the bay but I still love it anyway. Am hoping to get more of Phil's work soon. Have been following him on Facebook and the show he currently has on in the USA is stunning. If anyone knows the date of this piece I'd be most grateful.

Re: Phil Rogers
I showed Rogers a photo of the lidded pot and he thinks he made it around 1981, because they were the last thing he made with that batch of bought-in clay, before he switched to a different clay (presumably to a local supply), and that was the only time he made them.

Re: Phil Rogers
Thank you so much for finding out for me it was made in 1981, think that makes it pretty early for this guy. I can't imagine there are many of these about these days. Thanks again NaomiM

Re: Phil Rogers
One of the most misleading words used on Ebay is "early" but, as Phil started potting in 1975 and full time from 1978, in this case it would be justified.

I bought this small (4") teabowl on impulse... love the colour and texture...
Can anyone put a date on it?

Re: Phil Rogers
I shouldn't think the yunomi is that old. The last exhibition that he had with me was back in 2009 and, although the odd piece was unglazed on the outside, I don't recall him having feldspar (the white bits) mixed in with his stoneware at that time. This is his version of Shigaraki clay and will have been wood-fired.
Noting where the seller lives it could well have be bought from one of Phil's showroom sales and possibly in the last week or two.
