Well, it looks like a chimney pot to me!  1970s. I found this curiosity yesterday and would appreciate any leads:

It is six inches (about 15 cm) tall and has no marks:

Fosters pottery liked that frothy glaze and several Cornish potteries used similar decoration to the red area so I would say Cornish

fosters - Fosters Pottery, Cornwall Empty Interlocking Pottery Bowls - Fosters Pottery

I am not sure what these are meant for.  I have never seen bowls like this before.   I don't think direct heat can be applied to the base, due to the decorative design, which includes the glaze within the grooves.  I'm hoping someone will be able to recognise these.  I don't think they are very old, but it would be interesting to know what purpose they serve and who designed them.  I am grateful for any help you can provide.

From handle to handle  8"  and the height with both bowls interlocked is 4".

The glaze looks a lot like Fosters Pottery to me.

From an ebay listing

Fosters pottery used to be based in Redruth in Cornwall and was set up by the Foster brothers around 1960's.

Reg Foster eventually started his own Kernewek pottery, based in Goonhavern (just outside Perranporth). Kernewek pottery closed down a few years ago and Fosters went out of business more than 10 years ago. Foster and Kernewek pottery was big in Cornwall in the 60's & 70's.

Yes it's fosters , the pattern is seen in various pieces including teapots and the like , don't know exactly what food type dish yours is for though .

I expect it's a serving bowl, with a lid for keeping food warm on the table. My mum had glass versions in the 70s.

I have searched Fosters pottery, the pattern and glazing are similar. I must point out that I am not too sure if they should interlock though, as the bowls are very much identical in shape. I wonder if the bowls are meant to be seperate and would normally have been purchased as a set? The base pattern on the other bowl not shown in pictures posted, is the same. I am more than certain that direct heat cannot be applied to the base, so very much could be for keeping food warm. I have tried looking for markings, but unable to identify if the markings are within the pattern design to the base area. Your information has been very helpful though and I am very grateful. Thanx

I am more than certain that direct heat cannot be applied to the base..

They might be used to keep food warm on the table, before serving up. eg, vegetables brought to the table from the kitchen, after being drained from the saucepan. No direct heat needs to be applied.

...they might be warmed in a warm (but switched off) oven first, if the oven has been used to cook a roast or something.

Normally I dislike honeycombe glaze, but couldn't resist this Koala money box.
Unmarked, but found another one (cream coloured honeycomb glaze) on ebay still with it's original Honeycomb Fosters Pottery stamp.

Looks like Fosters Pottery, Cornwall; their honeycomb glaze is very recognisable. Huge amounts made in the 60s-70s, so little value, sorry. I had some too and dropped it off at the charity shop.

Hello, I recently picked up a set of Fosters Pottery but I can't work out what this item is for? Does anyone know - sorry if this is the wrong place to post this as we know they maker. It's about 25cm tall and has a lid which has a small hole in it.

FOSTERS POTTERY
Fosters Pottery was set up by the Foster Brothers in the late fifties, early sixties. Originally based in Redruth, on the site were the Tesco petrol filling station now stands, it employed approximately fifty people in it's hay day. The pottery was renowned for it's distinctive brown honeycomb glaze. The honeycomb glaze was used in a variety of colours, on many pieces of vintage pottery, from coffee sets and pots to collectable seal ornaments and fish gurgle or glug glug jugs. In the mid-nineties, it moved to Wilson Way in Pool, near Redruth where it ran under different management. One of the brothers, Reg Foster opened Kernewek Pottery near Perranporth. Kernewek sadly had a fire in the kiln room in 1995 which destroyed the facilities. They operated as a shop until 2005 when they closed.
