French Jug with motto - Chambery, Savoy, France.

This stoneware jug stands 7.3/4" high. I think the  motto  reads 'l'homme est une poire qu'il faut savoir presser' 'man is a pear pressing need to know'
There does not appear to be any obvious makers stamps.

The name you want to see on the bottom for such pieces is sarreguemines, but this is unmarked so just a piece of provincial French pottery.

........ and, although your base image is blurred, it looks as if it is earthenware rather than stoneware.
