Re: Ray Finch
Thank you both :) It is the glaze that's unusual?

Re: Ray Finch
Its Salt Glaze with some extra decorative effects. You can tell Ray Finch pieces by the little dot, as on this one. Sometimes they can be hard to see.

Re: Ray Finch
Lovely! Nice mark, bet you were happy when you turned that one over. Pottery collecting is a bit like a treasure hunt on a massive scale, where someone has hidden the treasures all across the country in charity shops and it's our job to hunt them down.
So good to know they are still there...was getting a bit depressed about nice things being posted.

Re: Ray Finch
Nice early pre-war mark as well. These sort of pieces are quite in demand now. That is a Very Good Buy!

Re: Ray Finch
This early Winchcombe Terracotta, same as the Tustin pieces, seems very soft,
and damages very easily.

The mark is most likely to have been used by Ray between 1949 and 1952 so I think that you meant to write "early post-war", philpot?

Re: Ray Finch
The general opinion is that Ray only used that mark between 1949 and 1952.

Re: Ray Finch
It’s Winchcombe Pottery’s WP mark. The dot means its Ray Finch’s personal stamp
