Mashiko - traditional pottery
The teapot below is an example of the typical ware produced in Mashiko before Shoji Hamada settled there in the mid 1920s.
The most famous exponent of this brushwork decoration was Masu Minagawa, c1872 to 1953.
So is the tepot below decorated by her? Probably not, but one thing that she had in common with Hamada is that she didn't signed her work, so we'll never know for sure.
