Any ideas who M. Simon is?
I don't think it's British, but it's not Josef Simon from Europe, not Michael Simon from USA.

I did find this couple in "Guide des Ceramistes 4th edition (2006) but the mark is now different, as is the work.
They work separately and are still at the same place in the Auverge region of France.

Are there similar books in Britain as "the guide ceramists"?

Yes, the Craft Potters' Association (of Great Britain) has produced them under various titles since 1972. They are published every few years and it is currently called "The Ceramics Book", which is to my mind a very unhelpful title.
