West Marshall, Whittington Pottery

Not the most colourful of pieces to be sure. Impressed arch on edge reminded me of Habitat house and heart mark? 19.3 cm tall and 10.3 cm wide.

Found these today for pence. Very finely potted. Thrown porcelain?.  Very clear name West Marshall. At first I thought the name sounded American. Only reference to a West Marshall is associated with Whittington Pottery and the few pieces I have found bear no resemblance to these. Any ideas? Thanks

Suddenly realised I hadn't checked the book!... and there he is. He did work at Whittington Pottery until 1980. These are from 1982 - 1998 .No longer potting.
Wonder how collectable his work is, they are beautifully made

An easily read one although nothing much to find on line!

Any studio potter working in porcelain is not run of the mill. What would we say 5%? Is it not a pain to fire ?

I picked up another early piece of his today.....and a google search revealed he is now a counsellor in Chesham....so a change of career
