ID Artist Or Book ?

As title is anyone able to ID artist from monogram MR ? Or this is supposed to be an original watercolour for a book illustration, so if anyone recognises the book ? The creatures out in snow appear to be wolves whilst the standing figure at the door also appears to have a wolves head

I agree that it looks like an illustration for a children’s book but I don’t recognise it I’m afraid

A look at the reverse would probably decide that.
Children's book illustrators tended to be a small group. Publishers are not adventurous people, and they tended to rely on quite a small group of artists.

One also needs to look at content. Those clothes the figures are wearing, and the hair styles of the children. They are not 1993.
Then the fairy tale castle. It ain't Hogwarts.
