Simons Bros (London) Limited retailer, Vase made in Portugal
Good evening
Whilst sorting out our Garage I came across a Vase. Just about to throw it out when Wife says "I love that vase" After 16 years in the garage I have my doubts So, two pictures of the bottom of the vase later and a bit of research I have no idea where it came from. Now, throw or keep??
Pictures attached of the base - any help would be appreciated.
No picture of vase yet, as I felt Labels and Marks would be the best place ask?
Kind Regards
Steve

The black printed backstamp says "Made in Portugal".

Simons Bros Ltd London are an importer company based in Southgate, London.
It’s what is best described as a decorators piece rather than a collectible. A good sized vase for flowers

Many Thanks for that, they were easy to find but, went out of business about 50 years ago. Elkan Simons - Joint Managing Director of that Company - received a CBE in the 1968 Birthday Honours List for Services to Export. Could make the Vase 50+ years old?

I’m not sure where you got the ‘50 years’ info. The company was incorporated in the early 2000s and the last company accounts were filed in 2006. It’s now dissolved. The barcode on the label would date it to the early 2000s

Just looking up barcodes and although I can’t date the one on your pot with any accuracy, I have found that the first one was used commercially in the US in the 70s. Imo, yours looks far too clean to be earlier than the 2000s
