Hi Bruce - this is in the wrong place (needs to be in the ID My Pottery section) so I'll move it for you.
Incidentally, re your bowl - had it not had Italy on the base I'd have suggested Vallauris....

Re: Italian Shell 5050 15
I've seen a lot of pieces with only the handwritten 'Italy' on them but up till now i don't think anyone knows the factory who made these. Or do we?
Re: Italian Shell 5050 15
It's a bit of a conundrum Bas. A lot of Italian pottery from seemingly different potteries bear the exact same mark and what looks like it was done in the same hand! Obviously this can't be the case but it's certainly made it extremely difficult to identify the various Italian potteries.
I have only a basic knowledge of this area - Big Ed seemed to know quite a bit but he's not been on the board for some time, I'm presuming he's moved across to Kev's. Our member Bertoncellobabe, who I'd rather hoped would be able to help unravel some of the mysteries actually turned out to be one of our existing (male) members playing silly games!
:con2: I think we need a book ....
