Goblet - Sydenham, Quay Pottery
I've seen this mark before I know I have, but now I'm looking for it....please tell me.
About 4.5 inches tall.
Not sure which is the right way up!

Re: Guy Sydenham
Thanks for that Naomi, I thought it was quality potting! Found it in the marks book now you've nailed it.
So will this be Guy Sydenham if it's impressed on it's own?

Re: Guy Sydenham
Guy and Joan together are some of my pottery heroes - I think the story is just fantastic. Really enjoyed the books.
I have so little but here is a Joan necklace @2 x 300mm

Re: Guy Sydenham
Vids at work called it 'ugly' ....but to me it's a thing of beauty but I only wear it around the house!

undocumented Guy Sydenham Stamp
Guy was very keen to document all his stamps so I was very surprised to find this one on a Long Island pot

Dorset Ooser
I love regional folklore and I love Guy Sydenham pottery so this mug was meant to be mine.

Re: Guy Sydenham
Well following tonights discussion I whipped out my (reasonable) camera and snapped this GS miniature salt pig (kiln filler) and blue spoon with GS mark and ducks foot. The point I want to mention is that the walls of this item are no thicker than the fair on the opening that he has turned up, say 2mm? the base is more but the walls of this piece are wafer thin. The slat glaze is the salt glaze, you get what you get - the kiln is the master on the finish. He's even put a hole in the finial on the top so it can be hung on a string.
My point being is that most of what I see by GS is of high quality... [b]he cared about every single little] piece he made [/b and had the hands of a genius.

Re: Guy Sydenham
I have a very similar piece and was also greatly impressed by the potting and detail.
Pictures don't really show how good these items are
