Re: Majolica Deruta (Italy)
walter has identified it as by Nino Strada 50-55 for the societa anomine majoliche deruta the arlecchino series
Re: Majolica Deruta (Italy)
Your post on Nino Strada is what brought me to this site
Italian bowl, Societa Anonima Maioliche Deruta (1950-1955), "Arlecchino" by Nino Strada
Just had a piece identified as being of the same
was trying to find out what it was worth

Re: Majolica Deruta (Italy)
there is a lot of Deruta pieces with designs that could be Nino Strada I'm not convinced they all are as tsome are much more complicated but it remains a debate, as to value its in italy

To avoid confusion I think this would be better posted on the Deruta thread -
https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t585-majolica-deruta-italy
As for value, they turn up regularly in car boot sales and charity shops for under a fiver, so not really appreciated at the moment.
to merge
I didn't see the Deruta thread , its nice to see other pieces, I guess a Moderator would have to move it
My mother bought this when my parents where stationed in Europe in the 1950's , It was packed in with a Rosenthal Shadow rose china set along with the other pieces from the 1950's, one that I posted here for an I D

Re: Majolica Deruta (Italy)
this company is doing reproductions of Nino Strada pieces http://www.ceramicsderuta.com/ProductList.asp?CODPCAT=MPBXVG539727&VTAG=Ceramica+moderna+ note the complexity of the design ; original 50s pieces are rare and highly sort after that does not mean any deruta harlequin pattern the originals are in the museum at deruta someone needs to check them out, Ive got one like Ritas above but am not convinced its a strada piece neither by Firekingdoms one
Re: Majolica Deruta (Italy)
not sure what your saying, its definitely from the 50's,but not all from the 50's are Nino Strada ?

Re: Majolica Deruta (Italy)
I know Walther belives all these pieces to be Strada its only I have a doubt because some which are like the ones reproduced by the company I mentioned have more colours ,squirly bits in the squares and they have other amorphous shapes they look more painterly, yours is definatley a 50s deruta piece and very nice . I may be completely wrong but only the "societa anomine majoliche deruta" could say for sure as there are lots of potteries in Deruta who may have been working on the same lines

I agree with Paul.
And of course, only the first models are by Strada.
