Had no idea it was so desirable and from Newlyn great part of the country. I am thrilled. Glad to share it on the forum to. Thank you.

That’s great around 1958 1959? I have read through your threads very enlightening. Have you seen this particular design before? Is it a cockerel?

Re: Bill Fisher, formerly of Mousehole
yes I saw it in auction a couple of years ago, as for what type of bird, I think artistic licence has been applied

Re: Bill Fisher, formerly of Mousehole
Well if you want another then you will have to watch eBay. I'm a massive hoarder, so you have as much chance of me selling mine ATM as you have of N telling us how many teabowls she has [hope she does not read this]

Oh I’m not a seller I’m a hoarder of precious things maybe one day

.....check out ebay now... those two won't sell at that price but watch them fall and see if they sell. We all watch enay to understand what the market price is.

Re: Bill Fisher, formerly of Mousehole
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and also to Bill's work!
Yesterday I was at a local antique shop when I saw this platter - even though I had no idea at the time of who "William Fisher" was, I could see this wasn't some random potter but obviously a great talent ...so I bought the piece.
It's a lot like the platter above in shape, about 17" long. I'd really like to know where this lies in the scheme of things Bill Fisher (how old etc) and also how on earth it ended up in an antique store in British Columbia, Canada!
TIA
Larry

Re: Bill Fisher, formerly of Mousehole
The addition of the sentence “Designed and Made in England” implies it was made for a retailer in Canada or the US; it’s an odd sentence to add if it was simply made and sold in Mousehole. Maybe made for one of the Exhibitions; it’s certainly a top quality and unusual piece by Fisher.

Lovely. Mine was dated 62 so I assume similar period.
Is this not a 'queen'

Re: Bill Fisher, formerly of Mousehole
Interesting ...maybe some of the wares were exported to Canada - I know that in the 60's and early 70's Lucie Rie was sold by "the Quest for Handcrafts Canada" in Victoria BC - this platter was also bought at an antique shop in that city ..still, I wonder who that lady is on the platter?
Re: Bill Fisher, formerly of Mousehole
I agree, it's circa 1960
