Bought this awhile ago...dont think i've posted it but then my memory is rubbish. Its about 12 inches...a strange "biomorphic " shape. Stamped Arthur Wood and 4114...is it 50's. The painting is very like Burleigh/Burgess and Leigh i've got

First one looks like 1954+ ... the other one has no date attached to it. For further details:

Re: Arthur Wood & Son Ltd. (Longport)
................. so it's Arthur Wood!
Believe it or not it is also a money box (slot on back and plastic corked hole on the underside) and Arthur Wood money boxes have a 4 figure code number.

Re: Arthur Wood & Son Ltd. (Longport)
It might be the Arthur Wood & Son mark that was used from 1934 until after the War.

Re: Arthur Wood & Son Ltd. (Longport)
Sure that "Imari" style is earlier SP, but so many Staffs potteries used a crown,
it could be difficult without going through Goddens cover to cover.!

Re: Arthur Wood & Son Ltd. (Longport)
I know that the pattern isn't typical of that period but that's what the mark looks like to me.

Re: Arthur Wood & Son Ltd. (Longport)
Yes Enhanced the mark a bit now. It's not a crown, but a pennant. Could it read
"Quality" on the pennant? if so it could match the second mark down shown here:
http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/w/woodarthur.html
The style still seems much earlier though.
