Italian tin glazed earthenware, Deruta maybe
I need your help to ID the maker of this nice compote bowl. I just picked it up - it has coil snake handles - cut out work on the top section - all hand painted and a large winged griffin HP in the center of the bowl. Marked Made in Italy - 132 - then what be the makers mark ( like a teardrop w/a upside down V or maybe an A ).I have searched and searched with no luck on this mark. It's modern, but in the traditional style. Probably Deruta area.

The mark is probably that of one of the many small potteries making ceramics in this style for the tourist industry. Not sure you'd be able to narrow it down without visiting the area in person.

Thanks Again Naomi - mostlikely you're right I have searched hundreds of marks - it will be like finding a needle in a haystack.
