He started the pottery in the early 1960s and he was the only senior potter, although he has had students and apprentices over the years.

Re: Peter Arnold - Alderney Pottery
Great thanks for that.Any Idea what the date of this pot may be it is not signed by Peter Arnold so I guess it is probably an apprentice piece.

Re: Peter Arnold - Alderney Pottery
The date would just be a guess, as I haven't seen enough of his work. The pottery closed in 2000 but did re-open again, although I do not know if it is still open.
Peter Arnold did not use a personal seal so there is no reason to assume that he never threw or painted the vase.

Peter Arnold
Thanks everyone at least I know more now than I did yesterday. On searching an Alderney visitors site I noticed that they hold Quaker meetings at the pottery and Peter Arnold is the contact for this.I dont Know if he is a Quaker or just the contact for the pottery, I may e-mail him about my pot but I always feel unsure e-mailing people I dont know. Thanks again.

Re: Peter Arnold - Alderney Pottery
I was just going to say that Naomi but I know that Peter Arnold had other people working at the Alderney Pottery so the paper label might refer to who actually made it.
I think that the pottery might have closed only recently but it did open in 1961.

Yes, thank you both for the replies. It looks right. It's an odd thing IMHO, chunky at the base and thin at the top. Strange shape.

Re: Peter Arnold - Alderney Pottery
It's the Alderney Pottery mark, which was run by Peter Arnold from 1961 until fairly recently.

It's the Alderney Pottery (Channel Islands) mark. The pottery was run by Peter Arnold from the early 1960s.

Vase with CM mark and AY mark - Alderney Pottery
Hi,
This is a vase I have and I was going to sell it due to having a thin out but now I can't part with it, the stamp has AY but also CM and I was certain this is an Alderney made vase but is it Peter Arnold or someone else, I would appreciate any advice.

Re: Peter Arnold - Alderney Pottery
It does look like the Alderney Pottery mark and, although Peter Arnold ran the pottery for many years, other potters worked with him too.

Re: Peter Arnold - Alderney Pottery
Is there a list anywhere that shows which potters worked there?
