Re: Id please on the tiles?
I know a about older English tiles, only a little about continental tiles, this seems to me to be continental tile.
The back of this tile looks modern to me, but the front of the tile is done in an Art Nouveau style. I see plenty of current English tile makers producing Art Nouveau tiles (Johnson tiles being one).
If I get time later today I will see if I can search the name on the back of the tile.

Re: Id please on the tiles?
I have seen dozens of this sort of tile at fairs over the past 3 years and assumed they were brand new

Re: Id please on the tiles?
yes it looks new at the back because i just removed the back cover from is frame... is been in that frame ever since i bought it.. something that has been framed with cover at the back will look new when you remove it from is frame for the first time isn't it?

Re: Id please on the tiles?
just to add this...even if an item is over 100years old... just saying.. and is well sealed, in as much there isn't any air or direct sun light to item, then item will remain as it is the very first way it was made.. and i almost broke the item trying to remove the back cover to put it up here because i was curious :) the front has been expose because there isn't any glass to protect it thanks guys :)

Re: Id please on the tiles?
I think it is more that the typeface and style of the logo on the back looks modern.
If you Google Ambientz tiles you will find some retailers advertising brand new tiles of that make today and they are attributed to Portugal.

Re: Id please on the tiles?
The decoration on the front of the tile itself should be as bright as the day it was made. I can't imagine a Victorian company making these very pale tiles. It looks as though they've been made to look faded, which points to it being a modern copy.

It looks like it has been fixed in the frame with a hot glue gun.
