VW mark - not MARGARET LEACH or Willing Pottery
Good morning everyone,
With some research I feel that it is possible that this vase may be by Margaret Leach whilst at the Barnhouse Pottery, Chepstow, Wye Valley.
There is mention of this kind "VW" (Wye Valley) mark on the net but not many pictures.
The height of the vase is approx 7 inches.
Can anybody help?
What do you think?

don't think she did stoneware mark is similar I will look out one of mine to compare
Re: VW mark - not MARGARET LEACH or Willing Pottery
The mark is not the same as the Wye Valley mark and she only worked in red earthenware. I have never seen or am aware of her working with any other clay.

I doubt it's a prolific Pottery to be honest, as the lower part is very thickly potted. It could be a hobbist Potter.
It does have an interesting mark though.

Found a jug with a very similar W backstamp, where there appears to be a v on top of the W. It also has the stamps WILLING (or WIBBING) DEVON, however there is no record of such a pottery or place on google search.

Yes well at least you tried to help. The material looks quite different but the mark seems the same from what I can tell even though yours is on the side and mine is on the base.

Good spot Naomi, the mark looks exactly the same.
I do however think it's probably a different pottery, as your jug appears to be better quality to be honest, unless the vase is an early piece.

unless the vase is an early piece.
The thought did cross my mind. Alternatively it might have been a co-operative or a pottery study centre.
