ORIENTAL DRAGON FLAMBE JUG.. I NEED YOUR OPINION ON THIS?

I NEED YOUR OPINION ON THIS ITEM BOUGHT IT YESTERDAY.. LOVELY FLAMBE COLORS... THE DESIGN IS RED CLOUD AND WHITE CLOUD... DON'T KNOW REALLY... TO ME IT FEEL LIKE IT WAS MADE YESTERDAY BUT AM NOT CERTAIN AND THE BASE LOOK STUDIO POTTERY TO ME... SO WHATS YOUR THOUGHT OT IT AND WHEN WILL YOU DATE THIS ITEM? CHEERS GUYS

I think this might be what's called a purple-splash junyao glaze. They have been making these wares in China for around 1000 years, and early examples are seriously valuable. However, yours is in a much more modern European-type shape, and since it looks so bright and shiny and unworn, I'd tend to agree that it was made quite recently in a factory somewhere in China.

Nice thing, though.

If you google "purple splash junyao" you can look at images of some early ones.

i fought so.. look new to me because i collect oriental stuff myself... but the colors and the way it sat in the shop where i bought it from caught my eyes... there is something about it when sited at a dark corner then you picture the real beauty... then you see the red clouds and the white clouds.. plus a dragon flying about it all... trust me this chinese are very clever i most admit... i will save it for my son

no , the head isn't in my collection. It's designed by a chinese artist i think, but can't for the life of me remember where i got the pic from.
