Interesting tall mug Rye Cinque styling 4 lines or poor letters on base
Hello
A nice tall mug here with a 3 circle unglazed pattern against thick green gloss. the base is white glazed with 4 lines however they could have meant to be letters that have just spread out during firing as the bottom could have been a D and a R

Well I know nothing about Troika, but it does look a bit like some Troika Mugs, but perhaps a test piece or copy, as the quality of decorations does not look as good in my opinion.

Yes, my first thought was the Troika cylinder vases with the circle decoration, but there are also similarities with Cinque Ports pieces.
A mystery.
A mystery.

A full picture of the base may help someone who's more informed on these things, as how the foot is finished can make a big difference.

I like it so I doubt it's Troika

I wouldn't think that it is Troika in the slightest

I found a very similar one (without the circles, but same green glaze) on completed listings on ebay. Listed as "FOWEY STUDIO POTTERY EARTHENWARE GLAZED MUG CORNWALL"
It has an impressed mark pottery on the base of the handle.

Re: Interesting tall mug Rye Cinque styling 4 lines or poor letters on base
As Potty suggested, I suspect it's a test piece and the marks on the base are not the actual pottery mark.
I strongly suspect it's by one of the Cornish potteries, or at least by a potter trained at one of them.

Could it be by that new Troika company?

This looks very much like a Rye Pottery mug to me - probably by David Sharp although that is not his signature ...
I found a similar item on eBay ... David-Sharp-Rye-Pottery-Tankard-5-1-2-inches-high
