The jug has scratches from top to bottom. The white dots are also carvings and are showing the white clay it's being made of.
Mark: VS. Nothing more.
I've seen V-markings before with sgraffito-vases, but not on red clay. That makes me doubt it is West German.
Height is 22 cm.
Does someone have an ID for me?

It reminded me of these 2 Sawa vases, marked 347-20, with V-signatures also.
But, the same as your suggestion, it lacks the 'S' after the 'V'.

And I nearly forgot to mention: these 2 are made with red clay.
Is there anything known about signatures of artists (or marking because of a certain reason) with a 'V'?

No, I'm sorry Naomi, it doesn't look like it. :-(

No, on second thoughts it strikes me as English. Possibly early 20th Century from the Devon or Cornwall region.
Re: Jug that seems WG, but not sure, with some sgraffito technique
yes it looks Cornish to me, Devon studio pottery is mostly red earthenware in my experience

Ruscha & schaeffenacker , used V in description , although Schaeffenacker V5 is a different form , red clay , white clay makes no difference, both were used frequently .
