annemarie schmidt was born 1919 in cologne and werner tummeley was born 1920 in treis/mosel. both studied at germanys school for ceramics, the werkschule in höhr-grenzhausen. after they've finished their studies there, they went to the little island juist and opened a pottery workshop there short after they've got married. as far as i know annemarie schmidt tummeley was responsible for the form and werner schmidt tummeley was the glaze specialist.
