I would be very grateful for any information on this.

I've looked on line and William Marshall's work bears little resemblance, although the mark appears to be his -  if not who any ideas on who it does belong to?

Not William Marshall. His W and M are the other way up compared to this mark.

You'll find that to be the problem with your Christmas present Lindylou - marks but no pictures of a potter's typical work.

Not familar with your cup or the mark on it I'm afraid.
