Ceramiche Biancoli

A Ceramiche Biancoli jug by Luigi Santi. With typical green lava glazes and red panel with colourful abstract depiction of a sailing boat. Inscribed Cattolica which is a town in Rimini. Still has liquor inside with seal intact. Seal reads L'Artistica Riccione which is probably the name of the liquor, taking its name from the town in Rimini. Biancoli was founded in Miramare in 1952 by Luigi Santi and closed in 1962. The jug is signed 'Santi' to base. 10.5 inches high.

May be interesting to know for you that Biancoli wasn't the name of the pottery, this was only the name of a financial partner of the pottery owner Luigi Santi:

"In 1952, helped by a financing partner, he founded the "Santi & Biancoli" factory in Miramare, near Rimini, where he made a commercial production, in competition with the nearby San Marino manufacturers."

BTW: archivioceramica says that Santi had passed away in 1974. Other online sources say 1981. Not sure who is right.
