Can anyone help with typing this metal?

Have this wonderful brooch I picked up.
I'm wondering if it's brass or copper possibly..

Because of the green verdigris on the back, I think it's copper.

might be fire gilt?

Honestly not sure guys. It looked very intricate, that's why I picked it up.

here is a picture with flash. For some reason every time you flash this thing it creates black stripes on the photo.

Its the wrong colour for copper, possibly brass or some kind of gilt.

Yeah, I was thinking brass. According to online research I did, the clasp dates around the 1900, either a little before or a little after.

Not sure what type of metal work was hot at that time.
