Could possibly be Devonmoor, it looks less finished than I would expect Beswick to be, more like art pottery.

Devonmoor seems to look similar on the base

Very nice.
It has the matt glaze reminiscent of 1920-30s Sylvac and Crown Devon.
Alternatively, it might be continental - French or Belgium art pottery, maybe?

I think I can rule out Beswick, SylvaC and Falcon Ware.
When I first saw it I thought Art Pottery too, but after looking closer at the base, I think it's early Art Deco.
Best suggestion I can come up with at the moment is Crown Ducal. (though I somehow think I've seen something vaguely similar by Clarice Cliff? )

Personally I would go along with Davee on this.
It is a long time since I have see/handled a piece of Devonmoor but from the images the type of glaze on the bowl and the base look right, as does the white earthenware visible on the foot ring.
I used to deal in 1920s/1930s factory produced pottery in the dim and distant past and for me none of the other suggestions seem likely.

I think that the splurge is just that and not a mark at all.

You can't change your mind now!!!
The base doesn't look right for Shorter really.

There is a Devonmoor tankard on studiopottery.com which has a similar glaze and base.

I haven't changed my mind just throwing in some alternative suggestions.

I am still with Devonmoor - they usually used a printed stamp that could have been missed or faded.
90% certain if you were asking.

Re: I know nothing of this....its impossible to read the base..Beswick ??
The pottery really began in 1922 (they did start earlier but a war got in the way) and continued into the 1970s I believe but don't have an exact date. Your bowl could be 1930s but might be later.
I have just found a website of a couple of glass collectors, who got interested in Devonmoor and the page on interest is below: -
http://www.kosta.demon.co.uk/
You will note that they point out that it is often unmarked and then sometimes sold for great sums of money by dodgy dealers passing it of as unmarked Ruskin and the like!
