Re: Lovely oriental? teabowl?
Well it's a yunomi in the Japanese style, but whether it is Japanese or a studio potter copying the Japanese style I couldn't say.

Chawan seem to be wider or broader. More tea bowls than tea cups.

You don't want to believe everything you read on there.

This little bowl alone is worth the trip!
It's 7.5cm x 5.5 cm.
Isn't it a bit like collectors in Japan arguing the difference between a cup and a mug?

Very true but if this little pot was made in Japan, which I can't be sure about, the actual measurements suggest that it might be small enough to be a guinomi!

Re: Lovely oriental? teabowl?
Chawans, Unomi's, Guinomi's, Yunomi's , great for selling pots , but lets face it they are tea bowls and cups , it probably has a more aura of mystique when the japanese words are used , Mingei is another term that crops up on ebay mainly from american sellers , selling warren Mckenzie pots , still just a pot .
