Re: EDGE MALKIN AN CO backstamp
We'd really need photos, but googling EM & Co and the dog trademark threw up this answer from another forum:
There was an Edge Malkin & Company pottery that made items with a dog mark and the "E.M. & Co." logo.

Re: EDGE MALKIN AN CO backstamp
'Paris' might be the name of the pattern, or it might have been made for export to retailers in Paris. Probably the former.

Re: EDGE MALKIN AN CO backstamp
The company seemed to have been quite a large operation, with the mark you describe being used from 1873 until the company went out of business in 1903.
From a 20th century point of view its two potteries became more important later in life with the Newport Pottery being bought by Wilkinsons and used to produce Clarice Cliff and their Middleport pottery being run by Burgess & Leigh, who produced Burleighware.
As with many of the old potteries, the Newport pottery has been pulled down and replaced by flats. However, Middleport, when near closure in 2009, was acquired by the Prince's Regeneration Trust and has been saved from demolition.

Re: EDGE MALKIN AN CO backstamp
Edge, Malkin & Co and the short lived companies that took over the business before the First World War are not companies that I have come across in the past. Therefore I suspect that they made functional tablewares that have not been of interest to collectors over the years. That will mean that you will be very fortunate to find any reference to patterns produced by this company and even more fortunate to find any images of the work. You never know though.
