I suspect it's provincial Italian pottery - similar to Savona pottery (tin glazed over earthenware)

I now believe it's made in Florence: Tin glazed over earthenware. Maybe 17th or 18th Century, although copies have been made into the 20th Century so it would be best to take it to a reputable auction house for identification. The decoration is the oak leaf pattern.
If you google Double-handled drug jar (orciuolo) with oak leaves and leaping hare you'll see a similarly decorated piece of Florence maiolica.
