Egyptian Ram Maker Request

Hello, Any ideas as to the maker. I thought the symbol on the front would be of some help, but not found any info. yet.

It's a copy of an Egyptian tomb piece, made for tourists. The symbol on the front is a cartouch with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, although I suspect to an ancient Egyptian it would read as gibberish.

Thanx for your information. As a tomb piece and been in the family for over 40 years, do you have any idea who would of made this. It is very unusual to me as I have not seen something like this before. I think it is made out of some sort of resin, but that I am unsure of.

Many families in Cario and along the Nile been making pieces for tourists since the 18th Century. I doubt you'd find the maker.

The largest symbol looks to be a scarab beetle, which was sacred to the ancient Egyptians.

Apparently the scarab was a protector of written products so this could be a paperweight!

Thanx Gareth and NaomiM, So that's what the symbol is. Judging by the weight, I would definately agree that it is a paperweight. Come to think about it...............I do recall seeing a black stone paperweight amongst my family collection. I must see if I can get them to dig it out from their loft. As it is stone rather than resin, I will, that's if found, post it as a new topic or will it be o.k to include it here?
