Re: Walter Keeler
I finally managed to get 'my' Wally Keeler piece for the collection last year. Nice and simple but still classic Keeler. 11.3cm (height)
Re: Walter Keeler
a nice pair of creamers

Re: Walter Keeler
I learned a lot from watching this and was in awe of Wally's skill, he makes it look so easy!

Re: Walter Keeler
I have watched several established potters at work but Wally gets such a high quality finish when connecting handles, spouts etc, I do like the factory finish look to this style of pottery and without turning at the leather hard stage to erase potting errors - quite a rare talent

Re: Walter Keeler
Definitely Walter Keleer. He does not only do the blue salt glaze, and this is his primary second alternative style later in his career. A very nice find!

Re: Walter Keeler
Thanks philpot. Do you have any idea when it might have been made?

Re: Walter Keeler
He's been making this glaze in recent years so it may be just 10 years old

Re: Walter Keeler
Thanks Dan.
It's very finely crazed, inside and out. Is this intentional or normal for his work? I'd expect that from older pottery but not something as young as you're suggesting.
Also, would the lack of maker's mark date it to anywhere specific?

Re: Walter Keeler
I only buy his salt-glazed pottery so I'm not sure if the green glaze is prone to crazing
date wise I would email Wally, he's very down to earth and friendly.

Re: Walter Keeler
That swirly circle fingy IS his mark on Whieldon ware. Take a look at the Goldmark site, they have some nice Whieldon pieces there. Just ignore the prices.....
