another pre 20thC i fear, but hey ho.
sorry for yet another pre-20thC, it's just you're all so damn good at this ID malarky!
bought today in a junk shop for 50p, a very beat up little dish/plate, made of a reddish clay with a glaze that has well and truly had it. The bottom is blackened and smoothed with years of use, no maker's marks. Help!
probably not worth any more than i paid, in which case it'll make an excellent paint mixing dish for when i get arty.

Might be what the Americans call Redware - their version of slipware, but often with a red slip. Made by the Pennsylvanian Dutch.
This might be from the US, or from Holland/Hungary/etc, where such provincial folkware is still made. It looks old, so I'll stick my neck out and say 18th or 19th Century.
Maybe send a photo to the Smithsonian or one of the large auction houses in the US and ask them if it's US redware.
