Funky large vase with a deer and a nude
12.5" tall, background glaze that makes me think of popcorn, and a pretty unique hand-painted design. I am sure it's not very old but it's fascinating nonetheless. No markings that I could find.
Any ideas?

As you're in the US I'm wondering if it could be Mexican or Brazilian studio art pottery?

Are the pictures painted on a fine sandy background? I think that's a Mexican technique.

Yes, I would say so. The texture of the pictures is not smooth; sandy might be a way to describe it.

The design actually makes me think of Miro, Klee, Kandinsky etc. Can't pinpoint specific images that it reminds me of, but there's something to the naive / abstract nature of it...
But I don't think the vase is that old - I think it would be a bit more scuffed up, at least at the bottom.

Re: Funky large vase with a deer and a nude
Does anyone know places online that have large collections of contemporary Mexican art pottery? I've tried searching but haven't found anything even remotely close to this one.
Thank you!
