I believe bistoboy is correct, I've no idea who made it, but I think it's great

Shaving mug? Your having me on I think. Well I neva. Thanks Potty. Querky more like. It's got some sort of marking to the base area, but I just can't make out what it is. If it as you say, a shaving mug. What's the purpose of the design(side elevation)? It looks like some sort of fish or sea creature of the deep. Yeah! that's right....................... I recall watching a very old black and white film were this green sea monster came out of the sea.......................................................................... For some reason I am now going to get questioned, how do I know it was green. Well in those days, even though TV was in black and white, I can assure you it was in colour to me. On a serious note, it would be very interesting to find out who actually designed it and be able to put some age to it. At a guess, looking at the base and this is only a guess. I would say around the 60 - 70's

There's one on Etsy labelled "Fish Porcelain Scuttle Shaving Mug Cup"
If yours is porcelain then it's possibly German. If it's a soft white earthenware then possibly Portugal.

Re: Unknown Pottery - help needed
I've even found out that there are collectors of Scuttle shaving mugs. In fact one was sold on ebay in brown as an 'Antique Pottery Fish Shaving Scuttle/Mug'. It was identical to mine. The picture is no longer available. I think mine maybe older than what I initially thought. It definately is porcelain and obviously well looked after by the previous owner. Based on your information, I tried using German Scuttle Mugs within the search engine. The designs look very different. That's not to say it's not German though. All your help is most certainly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure your initial thoughts were a lot closer to it's actual date than that ebay sellers
