stoneware jug Wsp mark - Washington Studio Pottery - Lindisfarne
This was a charity shop find last year. I couldn't believe how rough the stoneware was, the potter must have had incredibly tough hands. The mottled glaze around the rim and covering the inside is also very distinctive, I assume the spots are due to the iron rich inclusions in the clay? I think it's a nice shape and I used it to serve mulled wine in this Christmas and it was much admired . I thought the maker would be really easy to identify as it has a clear WSP mark, how wrong I was. I assume the P stands for pottery? I'm sure you guys will know immediately of course! 14.3cm (height)

Came across something similar on eBay, a creasted mug, but without a mark. Labelled Washington Studio Pottery, Tyne & Wear. A possible lead.

May be an early mark of Simon Peter Ward? Based in Sussex and Edinburgh in the 80s-90s but currently making slip moulded pieces in a very diffferent style

Do we know anything about Washington Studio Pottery - who made the pots? because, not to be obsessive about it, that clay, glaze, and style looks v like Laurie Short to me, he was working over that side of the country when he was Northern craft officer

Lindisfarne Pottery, Wsp mark
Wsp mark, also stamped Lindisfarne. I’m sure we have some more Wsp pieces in the ID My Pottery section so parking this here until I find them

WSP does stand for Washington Studio Pottery. Apparently they were sold in Washington Hall in the early 80s.
