ID help with this jug
Hi
I would be grateful for any help with identifying this jug
It is 19ch high, and I'm thinking the glaze looks rather like some Rye pottery I've seen.
There is only the horrible remains of a label sadly, but I've never seen a paper label on a Rye pot - so I'm probably completely wrong!!
Thanks

Re: ID help with this jug
It looks like tin glazed earthenware, as used at the Rye Pottery, but the earthenware doesn't look the right shade for Rye to me.

Re: ID help with this jug
I'm wondering if it's Spanish. While on holiday to Malaga a few years ago I saw a lot of tin-glazed earthenware with sponged decoration. It was pretty porous though. The jug I bought was useless because it leaked out of many small pin prick holes through the earthenware and glaze.

I'd vote for it being British personally.

Re: ID help with this jug
My Rye tankards have scrolls on the bottom of the handles. Does this jug have one?
