Re: id help please? Japanese? stoneware vase
One of the first things a Japanese person interested in pottery would do is look at the foot, which for them is extremely important. That's why I can't believe that this is Japanese.

I wouldn't have thought Japanese either. More likely to be British.

Re: id help please? Japanese? stoneware vase
I think that it just someone starting out making pots, as the top is thrown quite well but the bottom isn't a good shape. The decoration is also weak.

Re: id help please? Japanese? stoneware vase
I think we can rule out
'studio pottery Vase Japanese Pottery shoji hamada style?'
that wouldn't describe it at all

So tell me Sunnyices2 why after what I have said are you trying to sell this on a well known internet auction site as, "studio pottery Vase Japanese Pottery shoji hamada style"?

Re: id help please? Japanese? stoneware vase
I know loads of sellers do it but I don't think making extravagant claims or suggestions for items that they are selling helps sell at all. In fact I think it puts potential buyers off.

Re: id help please? Japanese? stoneware vase
I see that other 'shoji hamada style' jar sold. Came across another pot on the Id My Pottery thread with the same mark, which appears to have originated from Norfolk.
