They don't teach them much on these evening class pottery courses these days!

Re: Claudi Casanovas
I have sold the occasional piece of his work and do find some pieces interesting but haven't come across a piece that I've wanted to keep.

I actually like a couple of the big platters... in the right setting. But the thought of drinking tea out of that "thing" made me laugh out loud!

Re: Claudi Casanovas
You wouldn't laugh after spilling the tea down the front of your clothes though.
Despite the negative comments, I sold this the first time that I had it on show and could have sold it many times over.

I like the platters that look like layers of rock.

Re: Claudi Casanovas
just had a quick tri to spain visited Casanovas briefley with a friend who had exibited with him these are some old pieces
claudi casanovas
I purchased this piece quite recently, while Casanovas is quite a prolific maker his pottery is quite scarce in the market place, many of his pieces are quite large and need two men or a forklift to move them but fortunately he also made a range of smaller items . His work is featured in most museums around the world and has been shown in galerie Besson
and others in this country, the Sainsbury centre has a small collection of his work in the Lisa Sainsbury collection of studio ceramics but at present they are in storage, much of his work though is illustrated online.

Re: Claudi Casanovas
Hi Tenpot, Thanks for the pics, interesting garden ornaments .I think Casanovas is an excellent artist and along with the likes of Voulkos, Henderson, Lowndes etc they have really pushed the boundaries of what we like to think of as studio pottery. Did you talk to him about his work when you met him?

Re: Claudi Casanovas
yes I did these pieces were apparently frozen and then dropped to cause the breakages, how he manages to then dry them out before firing without them falling to pieces remains a mystery or a secret
