Possibly my ugliest-ever pot
This jug may represent a new low point in my downward spiral into obsessive pot-buying. On first inspection I instantly thought "Evening class effort: leave well alone". But then I remembered that I thought the same thing a few weeks ago when a £3 charity shop buy turned out to be by Janet Leach.
I can say for certain that this one isn't by her, but I can't say much else about it. It's clumsily hand-built in a thick, heavy, unattractive stoneware. But on the plus side, the underglaze stamped decoration looks to have been applied with a certain amount of assurance, the glazes are quite unusual, the base looks well-finished, and it bears a professional-looking impressed seal which seems to be an ampersand (&).
Anyone got any ideas?
