Mandy Parslow and Jackie Maurer
Bought this lidded jar along with a mug (shown in bottom photo), which at the time seemed matched to it: finish and shape were the same, and the slip decoration was also identical. However, on checking the potters' marks I found they were different. Was able to determine that the mug was made by Mandy Parslow who has had a pottery at Clonbeg Lodge, Glen of Aherlow, Co. Tipperarry since 1999 (her mark is an "M" with a horizontal line through the right hand "leg" making a sort of plus sign, if the photo is not clear). However, I can't find a name for the other mark (what looks like a "J" through an "M" or maybe an "n" ?), nor of any mention of anyone working with Mandy Parslow.
So, I would like to know if anyone has any idea of the maker, but also find the identical nature of the decoration a puzzle - not simply it being a slip "brushstroke" but the fact that strokes shapes are so exactly the same as to appear not be accidental; is this someone effectively just copying MP, or (whilst I've not seen any information to the effect) is this some form of generic or traditional "symbol" that both potters have used? I would be interested in your observations.

Re: Mandy Parslow and Jackie Maurer
Perhaps they were thrown by two different potters working at the same pottery an glazed by the same person? If the pottery is still working you could ask.

Thanks Ed, his work does seem to have similarities, though have not been able to find any reproduction of his mark to check. I did see MP's email address on her website but was a bit reluctant to contact her to ask about what appears to be someone elses work. I'll ask her tactfully and see what she says!

Re: Mandy Parslow and Jackie Maurer
Have now received advice from Mandy Parslow. She has confirmed that the pot is also one of her pieces. The mark belongs to Jackie Maurer who worked with her for a number of years (believe she now has a studio in Ballyvaughn). Apparently the pieces would usually have both of their marks, though the pieces I have only have one each.
She also advised that they were not saltglazed but reduction fired stoneware with a shino glaze.
Just goes to show what you can learn by going straight to the potter (thanks Ed)!

Mandy Parslow
I adore this wheelthrown and manipulated little bowl by Mandy Parslow. It's salt-glazed stoneware and I got it from the same place as my other Irish piece (Marcus O'Mahoney) the Saltbox Gallery, Helmsley last year. 5.6cm (height)
