African? Vase
Fairly sure this is African, (even though it appears to be wheel turned rather than coil built) because the glaze is very similar to my little round African vase with the small neck I posted a couple of months back.
However, there does appear to be a stamped mark on the side, covered in glaze, so just wondered if any UK potters are using African glazes.

Yes, it seems an odd mixture of styles. The lip is bevelled, which you rarely see in Western pottery.
I've never seen this glaze used by Western potters. I don't think it's a recent piece - maybe 50-60s

Re: African? Vase
unlikley that stoneware is african because of firing temperatures , apart from Abuja where they built vast kilns, and I agree with SP that your other pot doesnt look very african
Re: African? Vase
Yes, I have some Abuja and it's not like this vase.
I'm starting to think it's British. It's just an unusual glaze.

For those who know, is it a Manganese glaze?

I also think chances are it's British.
I *think* it's a thick Manganese type glaze, but I'm no potter, so it's a bit of guess really.
