Poh Chap Yeap
A potter who made pots for around 10 years in the 1970s/80s.
A rare yellow vase in porcelain with an incised Yeap signature on the base: -
His work consisted of wheel thrown porcelain and stoneware in the Chinese tradition, including some with brushwork decoration. During his career he quickly gained a considerable reputation, becoming one of the major potters in this country, if not the world. He was certainly regarded on an equal footing with Leach, Rie and Coper and, although it was never on a large scale, some of his work was retailing for around £1000 at the height of his fame in the late 1970s.

Below is a green hare fur glazed porcelain bottle from my collection.
Most of Yeap's work was made in porcelain, which almost always had his incised signature. This vase is unusual in that it has the painted signature that he did on his stoneware pieces.
The Chinese seal marks used as decoration are his name in Chinese characters. Although born in what is now Malaysia, Yeap was from a ethnic Chinese family.

Re: Poh Chap Yeap
Just checking to see if anyone was taking notice.
I thought that his writing was bad and it was my eyesight all the time.
It is now the right way around.
Thanks
