Pottery clown money box.

This has been around the family in excess of thirty years I would guess. However, does anybody know anything about it please.
Standing 8" high, a money box, on looking in interior it's of the orange type clay and he is most certainly hand painted. No distinguishing marks.

They are quite common and I believe they were cheap imports from somewhere (can't recall, but some had a "made in ...." sticker on them, maybe Taiwan or similar). I used to have a similar one too!

I bought two last year from a charity shop. Donated them to another charity shop this year.
I suspect they were imported from Hong Kong and sold at the seaside.

I still have another clown. Tempted to start a clown thread in the lounge so people can post theirs - if they dare admit to having them.

I had a Spanish porcelain Requna clown, and during a discussion one day its unbelievable how much they are disliked? why I ask?

When I was younger me and a friend saw a film called Clown House, I've not liked clowns since! 
Some are ok though (like this one), but I dislike most.

I know a 90yr old who collects Murano glass clowns. The family are wondering who she's going to leave her collection to - none of them want it, apparently.
