Christopher Russell, early Purbeck
my brother bought this for me a few years ago, because of the name, but i've never bothered to find out about the potter. Anyone know about them?

Thanks Naomi, Although it is in lower case, the distinctive "R" and the underline seem right,
as would the use of a local Carter blank.
22CS, the Carter mark is tiny, on the edge, I struggled to get all the tile cement off, so it is not clear.
Christopher Russell
I think this is early Christopher Russell any thoughts.

Re: Christopher Russell, early Purbeck
Nice, but I think the phrase is ‘under appreciated’. No one really collects his work.

Re: Christopher Russell, early Purbeck
Potted bio from the V&A. Some of his tiles were collected by Chris Blanchett who donated part of his collection to the V&A
Christopher Russell (1931-2018) trained at the Poole College of Art, leaving age 20 to set up the Purbeck Pottery, Swanage. Here, Russell made a range of work from simple pots to more individual pieces, eventually selling to Liberty's and Heals in London, where this pot was purchased. Later, Russell travelled to Barbados and started the Christopher Russell Pottery with the backing of the Barbados Development Board, often incorporating sea-washed glass into glazed ceramic tiles.
