Hagi chawan by Seigan Yamane
Yamane san was born in 1952 and opened his own kiln, Kousaian Kiln, in 1987. Hagi City is in Yamaguchi Prefecture and the teaware there is highly regarded in Japan.

Keiraku Ito
Raku chawan by Keiraku Ito
Raku is generally the most highly regarded teaware in Japan and Ito san, who made this bowl is a fine exponent. He was born in 1942 and I believe still working.
The chawan has the characters for “Chin-ju” on the front, meaning “long life” and it has the five peaked “Gozan” lip, typical of Raku

Kyosuke Fujiwara
Summer chawan by Kyosuke Fujiwara
Fujiwara san is from Okayama and was born in 1939, the second son of Living National Treasure, Kei Fujiwara. His elder brother, Yu Fujiwara, was also a Bizen Living National Treasure and maybe because of this Kyosuke has devoted his time making work other than in the family tradition. The Kanji decoration on this chawan (meaning “the way”) was written by Kurozumi Muneharu, head of a religious sect of Kurozumi-Kyo, and his sign is also to be found on the wooden box under the central calligraphy. The summer chawan has Kyosuke’s inscribed mark on the base.
