I always think of this as Tyrolean ware, but I think it's folk-pottery from the Slovakia area. Maybe Pozdisovce.

I allways thought its lausitz, or oberlausitz gdr...

Well we both agree folk pottery, Eastern Europe.
Personally, I'd say it's probably tourist ware.

Thanks - anywhere I could go to find out more? East German pottery is not well known here.

Water Jug marked HMV - Hódmezővásárhely Keramik, Hungary
This is the third ceramic piece I have seen with this mark ... but who does it belong to?
I bought this one in France - and I do think that it is French. It stands 19cm high with a diameter of 12cm.
The HMV mark also has what appears to be a number 6.
Any clues will be very much appreciated.
Although this and the other piece bought with it are both heavily inscribed, the third piece is different in that it is slipware ... and very well done too ... so I may buy it! But I would love to know who the potter is.
