Re: Tenmoku Glazed pot
I like the vase, but the base looks a bit plain to me.
Reminds me of Jim Malone, but fairly sure it's not one of his.

Re: Tenmoku Glazed pot
I agree Potty , the base doesn't quite match up to the rest of the vase , god knows why It is a very well made pot , only cost £8 from the helmswell centre but I'd love to know its origin . it's 11" High and quite weighty .

Re: Tenmoku Glazed pot
Yeah, it's like he/she had gone to the trouble of making a nice pot but then not bothered much with the base, it's not bad, just not in keeping with the quality of the rest of the vase.
That could well be an impressed makers mark, but I can't make it out. (Could be an S above something?)

Re: Tenmoku Glazed pot
I think it's a makers mark as well , but too rubbed or glazed over to decipher , I do think it's in an 8 sided shape .

Re: Tenmoku Glazed pot
That would be nice wouldn't it , seriously though it seems that this shape was popular with potters of the leach persuasion .

'potters of the leach persuasion' .
You make it sound like some sort of religious order Dan
My first and only thought was Jim Malone.Seen that type of top on a lot of his.
But then the whole sort of gets lost down the bottom.

Re: Tenmoku Glazed pot
It's the top of the pot that is most familiar to me ( I'm Ed BTW )
Some leach followers treat him like an Icon , don't see it myself
