Robert Brumby, York

I’ve seen a few of the first one before; signed York, KC or CP or other monogram. I think it may have been a pottery co-operative.

The second one looks like John Froud’s ‘JAF’ monogram - Avago Farm Pottery, Huntington, York

Thank's Naomi, I was going to ask exactly what a co-operative would be, but I'll google it and educate myself a little.

I guess it’s a collection of young potters using the same studio and making similar pots, like Chelsea Pottery, and Powdermills Pottery with their anagama kiln.
There are one or two currently in London... but their stuff is a bit hobby-potter-ish

Cass’s York mark was a stamp according to the Marks book, not handwritten

Yes. I think I have, or have had, some of these York marked pots before,
probably from York boot!

I’ve split the questionable Barbara Cass pot, signed York, from that thread and merged it with this one.

Hi. Can anyone help ID this vase. It has a three raised dot mark on an indent in the neck. Thanks

I really like it! I thought there was only the mark on the neck - on previous photo but I  have just found this.

Via Robert Brumby: "he attended my pottery classes in the 70s ish. Started producing on his own account. Had a stall in the York Market selling his wares for awhile. Not sure what happened after that. I admired his general artistic awareness, and I am sure he is your man. Hope this has been helpful”

The York History page on Facebook believes they were made at Robert Brumby’s studio, York. 1960s-70s. Probably explains the RWB monogrammed ones

My friend visited the Liverpool metropolitan cathedral last week, or "Paddy's Wigwam" as it's known locally, and posted pics of the Madonna and child
