Stylish ammonite vase

This is a stylish vase decorated with an ammonite design which has baffled me for years. Anyone have any ideas as to who its mysterious maker is?

Lovely vase. Mark looks like LS. Not one I've come across before.

I've always rather liked it too, though I always read the mark as a CS, so your LS suggestion has opened up more possibilities. Bearing in mind the subject of the decoration, I wondered if it might be the work of a hitherto un-lauded Dorset potter, or possibly from a maker across the water somewhere.

Lyme Regis / Dorset Coast area, maybe?
