Aha, found a reference to a Wilhelm Kamp, ceramicist and sculptor, who also made steins in the late 19th Century, early 20th Century for Thewalt.

The Thewalt firm only seriously got into steins in 1897 (there may have been some small steins made prior to that date) when they hired Wilhelm Kamp to design beer steins.

Kirchstraße 32, Höhr, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia. (now Höhr-Grenzhausen, Rhineland-Palatinate).
Modellierer / Modeller
Born 1879. He lived at Kirchstraße 32 in 1912. Died 1953.
Chief Designer & Sculptor for Albert Jacob Thewalt 1897 - 1914. (He was responsible for designs #1 - #816.)
